The Cave Family Tour

Well, we are back from our weekend tour of Nebraska. Here is a brief summary of our adventure.

(Look out Alex, Rowan is movin in on Sam)

We left for Nana and Papa's at about 3pm on Friday. We picked up the kids from school and hit the road. We arrived in Omaha a little after 6. My Mom and Dad, (who have perfected the art of being hosts) had side dishes made, burgers and sausages ready to be grilled and ice cold beer in the cooler. Thanks again Mom and Dad. The Curtis family, Barbie and Rowan Mulley showed up around 6:30. Andy Grayson and new girlfriend Laura arrived about 8. We all had dinner, the kids played and fought. Overall, a great picnic with great friends.

Then Saturday morning the tornado began. We left for Ray Gun's birthday party witch was at my sisters on the other side of town. The kids swam in the pool, froze to death, but had a good time. After presents, Lisa, Alex, Ellie and I jumped in the van and headed to Fremont for my cousins graduation party.

Fremont is about a 30 minute drive from my sisters in a whole other direction. I got to see my Grandma, the main reason for going, and saw all my aunts and uncles. My aunt Jo barraged me with hugs and kisses. (I always act like I don't like it but she always makes you feel like your the most important person in the world) My family oohed and aahhed over my new addition Ellie, the other main reason for going. (who doesn't like showing off their kid) I do have to admit the Dauberts had the second best graduation food ever. (the coolest being my Aunt Sue having an entire Chinese Buffet) Dirk is no cheapskate either, he had lots of beer, mix drinks and soda. I knew I liked him. I was able to see my cousin's Joe and Jason. Jason must be getting some action because for the first time since "the break up" he had a big smile on his face. (More importantly, he never stopped smiling) He is a great kid and deserves to be happy. Joe is sporting a beard, don't know what I think of that yet. It was nice to see Tim and Barb as well. Tim even had a couple pounds of raw fish for my Dad. Witch he foolishly trusted me to give to my dad. (I didn't keep it for myself, I just forgot about it and left it in the van) Needless to say that next morning when I opened the back of the van to load the bags, you get the idea. Sorry Timmy. It was also nice to see Doctor Ronda (I know I spelled your name wrong) If it was not for her I don't know if I could have got through the "single parent phase" of my life. It was she who babysat the boys while I went on dates with Lisa. Mom, cover your eyes. She even kept them overnight, wink, wink.

After the Graduation party we headed for the Brouse wedding at the Laurintzen Gardens, witch is on the other side of Omaha near the Missouri river. But of course we had to stop at mom and dads to change.

Sunday, we had a slower day. We went over to Chris and Todd's for a bar-b-que. Todd has made me embarrassed to grill. I do not know if I can serve the Block family with my sorry excuse of bar-b-que. (Thanks Todd) He is an amazing host and an unbelievable with the grill/smoker. I think I freaked him out a little when I professed my love for him. If Lisa could grill like that. Shelia provided the rice crispy bars (some with chocolate, some with no chocolate witch happen to be my personal favorite) and Ryan did the potatoes. Chris provided multiple side dishes including her famous roll thingies. She is a perfect compliment to Todd's hosting abilities. Together they make a pretty good hosting team. I also like Scot, Jen and Kim's approach as well. When I was in Vegas last week, we went out and made someone else do all the work.

Then on Monday we went back to K.C. It was a fairly uneventful day. I LOVED IT! So our weekend caravan around the state of Nebraska was over and I can honestly say I had a great time. Love you all.

(Boy are we pooped)

We Should Have One More!

Come on everybody, I need your help. Just before Ellie was born Lisa and I decided that 4 was enough. It had a lot to do with the fact that #4 was going to be a girl but the main reason was how sick Lisa got with Ellie. Lisa was throwing up everyday and never felt "good". She actually started to loose weight when they finally put her on a machine that pumped medicine in to her every hour. It sucked because she couldn't stick herself. Once a day she had to "change the needle" and that meant I had to change the needle. Although it is hard to believe I did not enjoy jabbing a sharp object in to my pregnant wife's leg. So, its a girl, she is really sick and we already have 3 kids we can not afford.

So!

Now I am thinking I want one more. I just love my kids and I think I want a hundred of them. Ellie needs a little sister right. I know, I know then Ellie's little sister will need a little sister, or brother, and then that one will need one to. All I can say for certain is that I finally understand what happened to Pete. Either that or he just couldn't keep his hands to himself. For my wife's sanity we will just assume the latter.

I need your help. Lisa has officially closed the "baby factory". She is firm on "no more". If you think we should have another one. LET HER KNOW! My usual whining is not working, she just wont budge. If enough of us bug her maybe she will reconsider.

Or, I am perfectly happy with 4 happy, healthy kids!

My First Entry

Well here we go. I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, just never did. Then an old friend contacted me and sent me to her blog on the same network. I had to sign up to view hers, couldn't sleep and here I am.

All the Cave babies are doing well. Ben (10 years old now) is still nuts. His favorite activities right now are playing baseball for the K.C. Gorillas, rollerblading, friends and driving his mother absolutely fricking crazy. She likes to call him the "Mouth from the South". O.K. I made that up, but she would totally agree. Greg (9), OH Greggy. If Ben is nuts then Greg is one hundred percent certifiable. I am absolutely convinced that boys go brain dead from the age of 7 or 8 until somewhere in the mid 20's. (Side note) Mom and Dad, I am so sorry. I don't know what I did but I am sure the apology is long overdue. Greg is kicking but in Soccer as usual and is still the ultimate "Drama Queen" or King, which ever one is more applicable. Alexander Joseph, AKA Sportacus, enjoys his days lounging around his airship (see Lazytown) and forcing Mommy to sing his theme song. He is the only 3 year old I know with his own theme song. (For full performance of said song see Lisa Cave) Then there is Ms Ellie, or the Boss as we all like to call her. What a fricking attitude. Pete you are a Saint. Someday people will be wearing "Saint Pete of the Block" medals and praying to you for courage not to strangle their daughters. Ellie is only 9 months, she cant feed herself, go to the poddy or talk, but I swear she laughs at me. She is already setting me up for a lifetime of slavery. I am absolutely one hundred percent in love with that little girl. The boys I can handle, I think I can take em. With Ellie, I'm screwed. I have not forgot about Lisa and myself. Lisa is enjoying her new career as a stay at home mom. I read an article recently that said if "stay at home moms" had a salary it would be $169,000. I told Lisa we should be like that show "Big Love". I'll marry two or three more women and then I would not have to work either. After I came to I realized she didn't like the idea. Probably for the best, I have a hard enough time remembering one anniversary. I will admit that Lisa had a real difficult time when we moved. She is very close to her sisters and our parents were very close. She moved for my career and hopefully now that she is able to stay home, it was worth it. As for me, well not much to say. I run a men's 3 on 3 basketball league at the church. Help coach the kids sports. I like to watch my shows (Prison Break, 24, Lost, Heroes, Survivor and any Pistons, Bears, Dodger or Nebraska sports) I think TIVO saved my marriage. Of course work is a huge drain of my time, but it is nice to be the King. (Mel Brooks reference for ya) I have all weekends for my kids and we have a few vacations coming up.

Well, there it is, my cherry is broken. I am no longer a blog virgin. I will try to update more often. I will even have Lisa post once and a while. By much request I will add more pictures of the midgets.
